I’m often asked how the artwork for my books is created — especially in a world where AI images are popping up everywhere. So today I wanted to share a little behind-the-scenes look at how the characters and scenes in the Chronicles of Cheese series come to life.
Short answer:
It’s all made by hand.
Long answer:
Blender, lots of tweaking, and plenty of cheesy patience.
Below are a couple of short videos showing my actual workflow inside Blender, where I model, pose, light, and render the characters you see in the books — The first video includes Quark and Stringy from my upcoming book 2.
The second video is a very early preview of work for book 3, which for now, the story remains a secret.
Creating these illustrations takes time, but that’s part of the joy — each character feels more “alive” when they’re crafted from scratch. I hope you enjoy this peek into the process as much as I enjoy building these little worlds.
